2. Data we process
Depending on how you use Opeers, we process account data, optional profile details, technical usage data, friendships, messages, activities, reports, and voluntarily shared location data and photos. We do not collect a street address for the public profile.
3. Registration and account
Registration involves processing your email address, encrypted password, nickname and date of birth. The minimum age is 18. Sign-in and account management use Firebase Authentication.
4. Location and map
Location access and map visibility are optional and must be enabled separately. New accounts start with location and map visibility disabled. Other people never see your exact location; the display is technically imprecise to protect your privacy.
5. Profile, friends and communication
Profile details, friendships, waves and chats are processed only for the features you use. Visibility and contact options can be restricted in Settings. Blocked users can no longer contact you.
6. Moments and activities
Map photos are optimised before upload and stored with their position, visibility and expiry time. Map moments expire after 24 hours and are automatically deleted together with their likes and comments. Content can be reported and moderated.
7. Notifications
If you allow notifications, we use device identifiers to deliver alerts about messages, friend requests, waves and relevant activities. You can revoke permission at any time in your device settings.
8. Service providers
We use Google Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, database, hosting, storage and server-side functions; MapTiler and OpenStreetMap for maps; Brevo for transactional email; and IONOS for domains and email. Data may be processed in accordance with the providers' agreements.
9. Legal bases
Processing is carried out to perform our contract, comply with legal obligations, pursue legitimate interests in a secure and functional service, or on the basis of your consent. Optional consent can be withdrawn at any time with future effect.
10. Retention
Data is stored only for as long as necessary for its purpose, contract performance or legal evidence. Account data is removed or restricted after a valid account deletion unless retention obligations apply.
11. Your rights
You have rights including access, rectification, deletion, restriction, data portability, objection and complaint to a data protection authority. Send requests to privacy@opeers.com.
12. Account deletion
You can delete your account in the app under Settings or follow the steps on our Delete account page.
13. Version
Version 1.0, July 2026. We will notify you in the app about material changes.
